Happy Anniversary To Me! and E-Book Giveaway!

On April 5, 2014 I did something I never thought I’d do – I published my first book, Taking Lance. Hitting publish on that story was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I’d never shown anybody my stories, though I’d been writing them for decades. I only had the courage to do it when I did because I have the best friend in the world who encouraged me to publish it.

She still encourages me.

Taking Lance was written in fun, meaning nobody was supposed to read it. And when I published it, I honestly thought nobody would read it. It’s bi-erotica with the two main characters having a substantial age difference. They also (early on, before they’re an established couple) have sex with others on-page, something I know is a big no-no to some readers. But like I said, it was written in fun.

To my surprise, people did read it, and they’re still reading it.

I’ve not published a bi-erotica book since Finding Alex, the last book in the Taking Lance series. They’ve been written but are in folders on my laptop with dozens of other completed stories. I hope to someday clean them up and put them out into the world. It was never my plan to strictly publish gay romance and gay erotica after the ‘Lance’ series was over. It just happened. A few months after Taking Lance was published, I published the first Willy the Kinky Elf book. When ‘Willy’ took off, I had to put a lot of my focus on that series, and other stories ended up on the backburner.

And, honestly, Finding Alex was very challenging. I wrote 4 full-length ‘Alex’ books from start to finish (all with different plots and scenarios) before being satisfied. I’ve been challenged with my writing since, but nowhere near like I was back then. I tend to overthink things, which I believe is what happened with Finding Alex.

Even so, I’m damn proud of Rick and Lance and their friends who have their own books in the Taking Lance series. If I could go back 8 years, there are a few things I’d change. There’s one scene in particular in Keeping Lance that I somewhat regret leaving in the final draft. Even so, I love those guys and I miss them because they were my firsts.

My writing style has changed drastically over the past 8 years. I find myself wanting to lighten things up more often than not these days, though some of my upcoming books focus on some pretty serious topics. Even so, my silly sense of humor usually finds its way into my stories.

Every year on my publishing anniversary I do some type of giveaway. Sometimes it’s one book of the reader’s choice from my catalogue. Other times (in recent years) I’ve done an Amazon gift card giveaway via Rafflecopter. I’m not doing either of those this year. The former because some people are iffy about contacting me privately with their choice of book. The latter because of the amount of spam I receive when I do the Rafflecopter giveaways. It’s hard weeding out the fake entries from the legit ones.

So, this year I’m going back to where it all started – Taking Lance. From April 5th through April 6th, Taking Lance (The Complete Series) will be free on Amazon only. At 463 pages, it covers the entire series from start to finish, including all the short stories in between.

Note that the freebie is ONLY the complete series, not the individual stories listed on Amazon. It’s an all or nothing thing, as the complete series edition covers everything.

Rick Preston and Lance Scott would never be called a traditional couple, but when they love, they really love. It takes a while for them to get where they need to be, but when they get there? Yeah, it’s really sweet, and they’re only about each other.

Thank you to every single person who has ever read one of my books. I never thought one person would read my little bi-erotica story. For it to still be doing well 8 years later means more to me than you could ever know.

Most of all… thank you to my very best friend in the world. Without you, there would be no Rick and Lance. There would be no Willy or Randy or my kooky version of the North Pole. There would be no Jacob or Owen or Dustin or Reese or any of the others I’ve written about over the years. I will forever credit you for every single book I publish. It was with your encouragement that I finally moved my stories out of the hidden folders and put them out there. I appreciate you. I value our friendship so much. And I’ll forever be grateful that you came into my life. Much love, my friend.

To download a free e-copy of Taking Lance (The Complete Series), just click the link and it’ll take you to the Amazon page.

Until next time,

Candi

P.S. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you’ve seen me reuse the top two photos on this post. As I was writing Lance Scott, THAT (above) is the way I saw him inside my head, though I’d not seen this photo before the first book was published. My best friend saw it and knew it was Lance. I stole it from her (lol) and use it pretty much every time I mention the series in any of my posts. Isn’t he gorgeous?

Happy 7th Publishing Anniversary to Me & Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

On April 5, 2014 I published bi-erotica Taking Lance, the first book in the Taking Lance series. I’d never let anybody (outside of teachers during writing assignments way back when) read anything I’d ever written. During a terrifying moment, I sent the story to my best friend for her thoughts. I’d always written, had been writing short stories for as long as I could remember, but Taking Lance was different. It was written solely to get another book out of my head – a book I didn’t write. Taking Lance was nothing at all like that book but the character names were kind of similar. My best friend encouraged me to publish the story and here I am.

Since Taking Lance, I’ve published a lot of books, including the 7-book Willy the Kinky Elf series that ended in December. And while I may not publish a lot each year, I’m always writing something. At the moment, I’m going back and forth between 7 books I’m writing at the same time – 5 from one series and 2 from another.

To celebrate Taking Lance’s 7th birthday, I’m giving away a $10 Amazon gift card to one winner. To enter, follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter link below. The giveaway will run from April 5th to April 15th, with the winner being notified within 48 hours of the giveaway ending.

Unlike my other books, the Taking Lance series is bi-erotica, not strictly gay romance. Both Lance and Rick have sex with others on-page, sometimes even together. Once they become a true couple, they’re only with each other. It’s leading up to that when they aren’t.

If that’s not your thing, don’t read the series.

Thank you to every single person who has taken the time to read one of my books. You’re the reason I keep doing this and I appreciate every single one of you.

As always, thank you to my best friend in the world. Without you, my stories would still be hidden away. Much love, my friend. ?

Note that my computer has died so I’m using my phone and Kindle Fire for pretty much everything. If you comment and it takes me a little while to approve it or respond back, that’s why.

Freebie: Happy Anniversary to Me!

Every year on April 5th I celebrate my publishing anniversary. My first book, Taking Lance, was published April 5,2014 so I’m celebrating #6. Normally I do some type of contest for people to win one or more of my books. This year I’m making it easy.

To celebrate my 6th publishing anniversary, I’m giving away an e-book of the reader’s choice to anybody who asks for it. If it has been published by me, it’s available.

Tell me in the comments what book and what format you want it in. Don’t put your email in the public comments. You’ll be asked to list it privately in order to publish a comment. I’ll see it there.

If you don’t want to leave a comment, send me an email to candikayauthor@gmail.com or a private message on one of my social media accounts – Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest. If you do it that way, I will need you to privately give me the email address you want it sent to.

Disregard where Facebook says I have a 0% response rate on my author page. That’s far from the truth. I just don’t respond to messages asking for boob pics, offers to send me dick pics, or others who think that because I write erotica that I get turned on by anonymous pervs on the internet. 😉 If you prefer, you can request me as a friend on my other Facebook page and send me a PM there.

This giveaway will run through April 15th.

If your book choice is Luke the Hybrid Reindeer & His Vivacious Mate I’ll also send you two bonus stories from that book, Doc’s and Randy’s. Note that those stories won’t make a whole lot of sense if you’ve not read Luke.

Thank you to every single person who has read one of my books. I know I’m not as out there as some authors, so it means a lot knowing that I’m being read. Thank you for the past 6 past years. I appreciate every single one of you.

And a special thank you to my best friend who gave me the encouragement to finally put my words out there. She’ll forever be credited for every single book I publish.

You can find all my books on my Amazon page or here.

Please take care of yourselves during the pandemic. I live in a state that takes the ‘wait and see’ approach. Only on Friday did they finally decide to take things seriously. I fear for how many people were infected leading up to it. One of my sons works in the medical field so the fear for me is quite real, as it is for most people right now.

Stay inside and away from people. Follow all the guidelines, including social distancing. I’ve seen so many people complaining. I’d rather be inconvenienced some that end up in the hospital or worse.

Until next time,

Candi

P.S. For those wondering where I’ve been… I spent almost 9 months out of 2019 traveling. During that time, I was focusing on publishing Luke the Hybrid Reindeer & His Vivacious Mate and Kane the Fake Elf & His Sexy Mall Santa. When I got home, and after the books were published, I took a step back from everything. I’m back writing again and happy to report that the 7th and final book of the Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer series (that would be Santa’s) is only a chapter or so from being complete. It will be published November 1st, 2020.

And the Winner Is….

Gabriella! who won my 5th publishing anniversary giveaway. She chose (on top of the $25 Amazon gift card) Taking Lance (the Complete Series) and all 6 e-books in Willy’s World as her winning books.

I don’t know if I should go ahead and apologize in advance for Willy the elf or offer to send her a bottle (or twelve) of Peppermint Whiskey. 😉

There were 762 total entries. Not all were valid but most were. At the end of the day Randomizer did its thing and Gabriella was chosen as the winner.

Thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate my publishing anniversary and for entering the giveaway.

It’s been an amazing 5 years.

Until next time,

Candi

On The Road Again...

I’ve been traveling and am back in Colorado, my favorite place on the planet. We were under a blizzard warning a couple of days ago. You know what the temperature was back home that same day? 87 degrees. 87! That number doesn’t surprise me as I’m used to it. It’s just strange how the weather can be so different in 2 different parts of the country at the same time. I’m a southern girl. I’m not used to the cold and snow. 😉 Looking out the window and seeing the mountains in the distance totally makes it worth it though.

A Bit Of A Rant

Those of you who know me know I don’t go back and forth about political stuff. I’m very firm in my beliefs, but I won’t argue politics with anybody. Not one comment that I’ve seen anywhere has had me changing my mind about what I believe. For that reason I don’t allow myself to get pulled into political (or religious) arguments, though I’d say it’s pretty obvious which side I’m on. With that being said, I want to touch on something that really bugged me this week in my real (non-writing) world, on my personal Facebook page.

There’s disagreeing with somebody and there’s being a jerk. We all have a right to our opinions. If somebody doesn’t share yours, ask them why instead of making assumptions and lumping them in with specific groups…. or simply walk away.

There are certain things I feel strongly about and no amount of arguments thrown at me will change that. Instead of calling somebody names publicly (after often saying something different privately), how about asking why they feel so strongly about it? You might be surprised at the response. I was born and raised in the deep South. I’ve been clumped together with the backwoods stereotypes my whole life. Maybe the views of some have absolutely nothing at all to do with politics or religion or where they were raised. Maybe something happened in their lives that made them feel so strongly about certain things.

I’m as sickened over the state of the world right now as most of you are. I’m a big ally when it comes to the rights of everyone. I will stand up and loudly fight for the rights of everybody. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to be pulled into a fight and go back and forth arguing with somebody publicly over anything. All it does is stress everybody involved out and the argument ends with neither side having won. It’s not worth it to me – not emotionally or physically. I may not say a lot publicly, but I don’t miss much. I just learned a long time ago to pick my battles.

The person who inspired this post won’t see it and I’m good with that. I’m just amazed over how the true colors of some people come out when certain topics come up.

That’s all I’m going to say about that.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. I’m hoping to do a bit of exploring and maybe sweet talk my husband into Mexican food tomorrow night. We’ve been here a few weeks and we’ve not been to our favorite place yet. I need to change that. 😉

Celebrating 5 Years: Amazon Gift Card & E-book (s) Giveaway

On April 5th, 2014 I took a chance. I published my first book, Taking Lance. Taking Lance was written in fun and was never meant to see the light of day. That changed when my best friend in the world encouraged me to publish it. I’d been writing for years but never showed my stories to anybody until that one. I’ll forever credit her for every book I publish. Without her encouragement and constructive criticism my books would still be hiding away somewhere on my laptop.

The Taking Lance series is bi-erotica that turns into a romance later, not just for the main couple (Rick and Lance) but for others as well. Since that was published, I’ve mostly written gay romance and erotica, with one M/F e-book of two short stories published early on. I now save my M/F books for other pen names, though I admit that I haven’t written one in awhile.

The Taking Lance series was completed in July of 2018 when I published Finding Alex. I miss those guys but now I can focus on other stories and series.

I have two official series going on – College Encounters and Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer. Only one College Encounters book has been published to date but there are several in the works. As for Willy the Kinky Elf, I’m writing #6 now, to be published on November 1st. The plan is to officially end that series in November of 2020 unless something major happens before then. I don’t want to carry a series past its expiration date, as I’ve said in the past. As much as I love Willy and the gang, I really can’t see me taking it beyond 2020 when the plan is to give Santa Claus his own book and tie off some loose ends.

One thing that hasn’t changed in five years is that I still suck on social media and with self-promo, though I’m always available to talk to readers. Just because I’m a little shy doesn’t mean that you need to be. 😉

I read every single review I see of my books and I appreciate them all, even those when the readers don’t like my books. I don’t love every book I read (as I’ve said many times before) so I damn sure don’t expect everybody to like mine. A 1-star review helped me early on when a reader hated the first Willy the Kinky Elf book. Instead of pushing people away from it, that review had some wanting to know what was so painfully bad about it. Every time I publish another story in that world I’m grateful for that review and rating. A bad review won’t bother me unless it describes things that don’t actually happen in the book or if I’m being attacked personally. Otherwise, I’m thrilled knowing that people are reading my books and letting people know their thoughts on them – good or bad.

To celebrate my five years and the most amazing fans ever, I’m giving away a $25 Amazon gift card, the complete Taking Lance series (in one e-book), and the entire Willy the Kinky Elf series (including upcoming book #6 when it’s available – if you look real close on the Willy the Kinky Elf page you might see the tentative title that I’ve not officially announced yet ) via Rafflecopter. I’ve used Rafflecopter before but not as an author so bear with me. 😉 There are lots of ways to enter so check it out and share it if you know others who might be interested in the giveaway. If you have any problems shoot me a message and I’ll see what I can do to fix it.

When I published Taking Lance I honestly thought I’d sell maybe 5 books – total – and that those 5 would be my best friend and her family (who I’m sending the evil eye to because they KNOW they never have to pay for my books). 🙂 Imagine my surprise when the book did quite well, giving me the push I needed to keep going and to publish others.

Thank you to every single person who has read one of my books. Without you, I wouldn’t be doing what I love. I appreciate every single one of you.

Here’s to my first 5 years and hopefully many, many more.

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway!

P.S. To those new to my site, I like to look at nice things (as Willy the elf would say) so expect to see nice visuals in almost every single thing I publish on here, regardless of what the post is about. Some may be NSFW or close to it. I’m an equal opportunity perv so expect a little bit of everything. You can check out my SEXY PICS page to get an idea of what I’m talking about.

And I like red. A lot.

Upcoming Amazon Gift Card & E-Book (s) Giveaway

On Friday, April 5th I’ll be celebrating the 5th anniversary of publishing my first book, Taking Lance. To celebrate, I’ll be giving away a $25.00 Amazon gift card, Taking Lance (the Complete Series), and the Willy the Kinky Elf series (including upcoming book #6 when available).

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The giveaway will start on April 5th and end on April 20th. There will be several ways to enter via Rafflecopter so stay tuned!

Note that the Taking Lance Series is bi-erotica/romance. All characters have sex on-page with others (both male and female for Rick, who is bisexual) before they find their HEA with who they’re meant to be with. If this is something the winner isn’t interested in, they’ll have the choice of another e-book from my catalog.

See y’all Friday,

Candi
