I’m up to my ears with editing and other things writer girl related but I wanted to pop in and do an update. It’s very rare these days for me to have a day where I (hopefully) don’t have to leave my house. I’m taking advantage of it. 🙂
I got the Marrying Lance manuscript back from my editor yesterday morning. Thankfully, my amazing editor took pity on me so there weren’t a whole lot of changes for me to make. I have the story ready to be formatted and published and the cover has been made. However, my blurb is still iffy.
Blurbs are the devil. Seriously.
It’s hard to condense 11,000 words (in this case) to only one or two short paragraphs.
If you’ve read the previous books in the series you know the characters and what led them where they are now. This story is only 3 quick chapters covering the wedding ceremony and a bit of playing around (*ahem!*) by Rick and Lance leading up to it. Closing out loose ends (Jenna, Lauren, Travis Jordan’s stepfather, etc.) will occur in Finding Alex, the final book in the series. I just felt that because Rick and Lance’s story started with Rick it should end in his and Lance’s points of view, not that of Alex or Dean. That’s why this short story was written.
As I’ve said before, Marrying Lance will be a freebie. In order to get it as perma-free on Amazon I’ll have to publish it on all other e-sites as free and then hope Amazon price matches. In other words, if you see the story for .99 on Amazon don’t buy it. Really, don’t. Amazon makes it very difficult to make a book permanently free.
I plan to publish the story wherever I’m allowed to publish it for free within the next couple of days. I’m in the process of trying to get this site set up so readers can download the book directly from me. I’ll start with the freebie, Marrying Lance, and then add purchase links for all my other books at a later date – most likely within the week. This is very time consuming and I admit to spending way too many hours over the past day or so trying to figure out which plugin would work for what I need. I have the link for readers to purchase directly from Payhip but I’ve been asked to sell them directly from here instead of sending you guys to a third party site. Hopefully I know what the heck I’m doing and it comes together as planned.
With that being said, I get a lot of visitors on my site each month. It should be noted that in the next few days there will be some changes to my homepage. Some will be permanent but most will be temporary. If you look at the top of the page (where the menu is) you’ll see CART. Ignore that for the time being. I’m still trying to figure this stuff out. I’ll update with all the necessary info (re: purchase and download buttons, etc.) when Marrying Lance goes live.
Special note to KSM – Be on the look out for an email from me in the coming days. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Because I’ve not complained about the Pinterest Prude Police in at least a day (snort) I need to update the followers of my Pinterest page. A few days ago I got ANOTHER email from Pinterest saying I’d been reported for one of my pins. To summarize what I’ve been dealing with, I’m reported constantly. I had my male eye candy board disabled but got it reinstated when I appealed. Not long after, I got another report and it was permanently deactivated.
I lost 1,200 pins after having deleted at least 200 when they told me to.
In my early days I skirted the edge a little more than I should have. Not lately, though. I’ve been very careful with what I pin or share.
The photo (on the right) was the almost final straw for Pinterest. Somebody reported it and I was told in a rather rude email that one more report would get my account permanently suspended. I don’t just pin sexy guys and couples. I pin recipes, art, etc. If my account is suspended I’ll lose hundreds of pins.
It should be stated very clearly that NOT ONE photo of a straight couple – or even those of two women together – has ever been reported, regardless of how sexual or racy the photos have been. It’s just the guys. The only thing I can gather is that some homophobic jerk has singled me out for some reason. Why else would I get reported as often as I have when the pins have gotten more tame as time has gone on?
I have made my special boards (guys, couples, guys with long hair, etc.) private. I know this won’t keep Pinterest from doing something if they see something they deem inappropriate but at least it’ll prevent whoever keeps reporting me from seeing those particular photos.
Because quite a few of you follow me on there if you want me to add you to those private boards where you can see what I pin, let me know and I’ll add you. I will, however, ask that you send me a link to your Pinterest profile first. A lot of you have been with me since I started publishing but a lot haven’t. Better safe than sorry, as I’m sure you all understand.
Also, when time allows I’ll be working on creating a Tumblr page. I’ve been told that pretty much anything goes on there. I’m not looking forward to creating another social media site but I think it’s necessary.
I’ve procrastinated long enough. That dang blurb won’t write itself. 😉
I hope everybody has a great weekend. I’ll publish a new post when Marrying Lance goes live.
Until next time,
