My apologies in advance for the annoying GIF at the bottom. I saw it and had to add it. 🙂
Thank you to everyone who has already bought and read Just Friends. I didn’t think that story would ever be published but I’m glad it’s finally out in the world. Check out two awesome reviews I got for it – On Top Down Under Book Reviews and Cocky Reviews. Note that the one at Cocky Reviews is very NSFW. Don’t click the link if you don’t want to see very graphic sexual situations and nekkid men. 😉
The past few weeks have been a little crazy for me but I wanted to give you guys a few updates.
Finding Alex (Taking Lance #4) – Publishing date TBD -I typed a draft for this post a few days ago. It said that I’d had almost 22,000 words written and that I was hoping to finish the first draft in the coming weeks. Since then I’ve written over 16,000 more words and officially typed THE END. At the moment the story is over 38,000 words. That will be cut drastically before it’s published.
Those of you who’ve followed me for any length of time know my issues with this story. It’s the finale to my very first series. I started and stopped it so many times in the past two and a half years I didn’t think I’d ever finish it. I don’t know if you can know the relief I’m feeling right now because there’s an official light at the end of the tunnel.
This is the final story in the series and I have no plans to ever add to it after this one is published. I could sit here and write about Rick and Lance all day long but I know when it’s time to say goodbye. Saying goodbye to these guys will sadden me but it will also be good for me. Without them I wouldn’t be publishing right now.
Also, there will be Rick and Lance’s wedding (untitled) quickie that I’ve decided to publish before Finding Alex. I’ve written around 2,000 words in that and I will likely stop it at around 5,000 or 6,000. Finding Alex will be published shortly after. The wedding also takes place in ‘Alex’ but from Dean’s point of view. It’s Dean’s instead of Alex’s because this is the chapter when Dean comes to terms with some pretty important things.
Something that could’ve been disastrous – I was a third of the way through the final chapter of Finding Alex when I hit save and the blue screen of death came up on my laptop. When it came back on I was unable to open the manuscript. I tried everything but no matter what I did it wouldn’t open and I was told that the file was corrupt. Thankfully I’m very anal about emailing my stories to myself at the end of each day, even if I so much as change only one line. I’d done this the night before so I didn’t lose the entire manuscript. I did, however, lose everything I had typed that morning in the final chapter and a few track changes I’d made. I couldn’t even be frustrated over having to recreate what I’d lost because I was so grateful that the entire story wasn’t gone. And with all I’ve gone through to get this story written it’s doubtful I would’ve even attempted to recreate it all. I believe I would’ve thrown my hands up, published Rick and Lance’s wedding, then walked away. I would’ve just added Alex and Dean’s story to that one but without as much detail. Thankfully it didn’t come down to that.
Oh, I can’t wait to reveal the cover. I think it’s my favorite in the series.
What you’ll need to know about Finding Alex before it’s published –
- Together Alex and Dean bring others into their bed often. If you’ve read Saving Travis and Trusting Lance you already know this. There’s no jealousy or silliness as a result of it. It’s just part of their relationship.
- Because they were already an established couple in the above-mentioned stories, I had to go back in time in order to tell their individual backstories. I hate flashbacks in books. I made a point in hopefully writing these where they aren’t annoying. I really hope so anyway.
- All the others in the series could be read as standalones. I don’t think that will be the case with Finding Alex. In order to understand pretty much everything in the book you’ll have to know what let up to it.
- Loose ends from the rest of the series will be tied up. Rick, Lance, Marc, Travis… everything.
Thank you On Top Down Under Book Reviews for allowing me to ‘borrow’ some of your visuals of my Taking Lance guys.
#4 in the Willy the Kinky Elf world – Over 22,000 words written. I plan to stop between 25,000 and 30,000. It’s still untitled. Well, publicly anyway. I have a working title but I won’t announce it until closer to release date. This is Barry’s story. Those who read Blake the Rogue Reindeer & His Cocky Human and Evan the Virgin Reindeer & His Sexy Buck will remember Barry as Blake Simpson’s younger brother and Evan Vickers’ longtime best friend. I didn’t plan to have two “B” names back to back but I didn’t expect the amount of emails I’ve received asking me to write Barry’s story STAT either. 😀 His love interest is a character that was mentioned in passing during a specific Peppermint Whiskey episode in ‘Blake’. I hope you guys like it when it comes out in early November. I will likely put it up for pre-order in early October like I did Blake’s story. I might even do it a few weeks earlier than that. It depends on how I’m feeling about the story. I’ll update more throughout the year.
If you’ve read the ‘Willy’ series you know there’s a theme in all of them. For ‘Willy’ it was love is love, regardless of who you are. With ‘Evan’ it was about adult bullying. In ‘Blake’ it was about addiction, redemption, and forgiveness. With ‘Barry’ the theme is domestic violence. While I won’t be making light of the subject in any way – just like I didn’t make light of adult bullying and addiction in the last two – I won’t be giving the reader page after page of details that take away from the lightness of the series as a whole. I’m doing my best to write it in a sensitive manner. Note that a majority of the domestic violence takes place off-page in the recent past. There are a couple of instances in the here and now but I’ll be leaving a lot to the reader’s imagination as far as what the character went through before.
That’s it as far as upcoming releases. I could go on about a few more but I won’t do that until I know for sure they’ll be published in the coming months.
I’m almost always writing something. The past couple of months I’ve tried to only focus on stories in the Taking Lance and the Willy the Kinky Elf worlds. Once I get Barry’s story complete I’ll be able to concentrate on new stories. The ideas are always there – and I have dozens of unfinished stories hidden away – but these two have to be knocked out before I can really do right by others. One down, one to go. 🙂
My 3rd publishing anniversary –
On April 5th I’ll be celebrating my 3rd publishing anniversary. I’m not sure what I’m going to do to celebrate yet. I really wish I had time to get Rick and Lance’s wedding story ready to go – that would be perfect considering they’re the guys who started it all for me – but I honestly don’t see that happening. Between traveling and an ongoing serious illness in my family time has simply gotten away from me.
I will, however, be publishing a quick excerpt from the wedding story. It’s already been written. I just need to add some finishing touches. This particular excerpt reads as its own mini-story so it doesn’t leave you hanging. Well, it might leave one of the characters hanging (*snort*) but not the readers. The excerpt will be added to my 3rd anniversary post on April 5th. You can expect to see the same scene in Rick and Lance’s wedding story later.
If I’m feeling good about it I may also add a quick excerpt from Finding Alex. I need to stress – and I’ll do it again in the actual post – that these excerpts will be unedited and will likely change slightly before the stories are actually published.
If you guys have any suggestions on what else to do to celebrate my 3rd, I’m all ears. I’m always open to doing a giveaway and will do one if the interest is there.
That’s about it for now. I hope everybody is doing well.
Until next time,
