#RIP Chester Bennington

I’ve not been around much due to health reasons but I couldn’t not say something about Chester Bennington.

I’ve been a huge fan of Linkin Park’s for years. The first time I heard In the End that was it. I own almost all of their music, with my #1 favorite being Leave Out All The Rest. If you’re not familiar with the song, it played in the closing credits of the first Twilight movie. If you didn’t like the Twilight movies don’t let that keep you from listening to the song. Listen to the words. That song is very special to me for a variety of reasons – none of which have anything to do with Twilight – and I play it often as I remember one of my late sisters. I listen to it several times on the anniversary date of her death each year.

When my time comes

forget the wrong that I’ve done.

Help me leave behind some reason

to be missed.

Don’t resent me

when you’re feeling empty.

Keep me in your memories.

Leave out all the rest.

I’ve not been able to hear that song for 8 years without getting choked up.

Today, we lost Chester, the lead singer of Linkin Park, to suicide. To say I’m heartbroken would be an understatement. It’s been a running thing with my family that if I only ever went to one more concert it had to be Linkin Park. Sadly, I’ll now never get that chance.

A week doesn’t go by that I don’t listen to their music. In the End, Crawling... so many others. We lost another great talent today. I’m sad beyond words. I’m sending my thoughts and prayers for Chester’s family – especially his children – and his friends and band mates.

He’ll be missed.

  1. I love Leave out all the Rest. I didn’t know it was from Twilight tho.

Linkin Park’s songs got me thru a lot when I was younger. Nobody knows what somebody is going through.

So sad. Such a talent and gone too soon.

  2. I’ve seen dozens of comments that said the same thing you did – that Linkin Park’s songs helped get you through a lot. They helped so many people – me included because of Leave Out All The Rest. That song, because my sister loved it so much and it related to how she was feeling before she died, will always be special to me. It’s so sad that Chester couldn’t find his own peace.

You’re right. Nobody knows what one person is going through. It’s heartbreaking.

    Thanks for your comment, Micky.
